Metawrite is an advanced content authoring tool for information architects, professional writers and educators who want to stay focused on writing content, while still maintaining control of the HTML the is generated. Metawrite is not the best choice for the following:

  • People who do not know much about HTML and CSS

  • People who will only use WYSIWYG interfaces

I don't want to discourage you. Just about anyone should be able to use Metawrite after reading through the documentation. However, you will find the application much more useful if you know a little bit about XHTML and CSS. The more you know about the underlying technology, the more control you will have over how things get displayed and how your content will ultimately get indexed by search engines.
